RCVS calls for award nominations

Recognising exceptional veterinary contributions

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is calling for nominations for its 2014 honours and awards rounds. The awards are presented annually to both veterinary surgeons and non-vets, of any age and experience, who have made an outstanding contribution to the veterinary sphere.


Nominations are open for two types of awards – honorary fellowships for RCVS-registered veterinary surgeons, and Honorary Associateships for non-veterinary surgeons. Both sets of awards will be presented at the annual RCVS award ceremony and AGM in London.


The college is keen for fellowship nominations to be cast widely, in order to offer recognition in veterinary achievements in fields such as science, education, industry and politics, as well as the traditional fields of academia and clinical practice. Nominees for this award no longer need to have been an RCVS member for 30 years, meaning that younger veterinary surgeons are also eligible for nomination.


The Honorary Associateships are intended to celebrate individuals who have contributed to the health and welfare of animals by working in fields related to the veterinary profession. This award covers a wide range of backgrounds, such as veterinary nurses, lecturers, farmers or conservationists.


Nick Stace, RCVS chief executive, said: “The veterinary profession has a lot of talented people who deserve to be recognised for the contribution they have made, whether in science and academia, or in politics and clinical practice.

"Everyone knows someone who is worthy of this kind of recognition and I urge you to take the next step and nominate them for an award."

Submissions open for BSAVA Clinical Research Abstracts 2026

News Story 1
 The BSAVA has opened submissions for the BSAVA Clinical Research Abstracts 2026.

It is an opportunity for applicants to present new research on any veterinary subject, such as the preliminary results of a study, discussion of a new technique or a description of an interesting case.

They must be based on high-quality clinical research conducted in industry, practice or academia, and summarised in 250 words.

Applications are welcome from vets, vet nurses, practice managers, and students.

Submissions are open until 6 March 2026.

Survey seeks ruminant sector views on antimicrobial stewardship

A new survey is seeking views of people working in the UK ruminant sector on how to tackle the challenge of demonstrating responsible antibiotic stewardship.

Forming part of a wider, collaborative initiative, the results will help identify the types of data available so that challenges with data collection can be better understood and addressed.

Anyone working in the UK farming sector, including vets and farmers,is encouraged to complete the survey, which is available at app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk
