BSAVA introduces Congress on Demand resource
The resource contains recorded lectures by many of the experts who were supposed to speak at Congress.

Content designed to fill the gap left by BSAVA Congress 2020

A new online educational resource containing more than 100 hours of lectures planned for BSAVA Congress is set to launch on Monday (18 May).

The new Congress on Demand resource contains recorded lectures by many of the globally-recognised experts who were supposed to speak at Congress, alongside some exhibitor CPD.

Content is available for the whole profession, both in the UK and overseas, and will be available to purchase at affordable prices - with some free sessions and a discount for BSAVA members.

BSAVA President Sue Paterson said: “While nothing can replace the wonderful live experience of BSAVA Congress, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19, we knew it was important to fill the gap in the CPD calendar.

"Congress on Demand has been masterminded by our hardworking teams of staff and volunteers in a short space of time and covers a plethora of high-quality CPD to suit all needs.”

For more information about the resource, visit the BSAVA Library.

DAERA to reduce BVD 'grace period'

DAERA has reminded herd keepers of an upcoming reduction to the 'grace period' to avoid BVD herd restrictions.

From 1 May 2025, herd keepers will have seven days to cull any BVD positive or inconclusive animals to avoid restrictions being applied to their herd.

It follows legislation introduced on 1 February, as DAERA introduces herd movement restrictions through a phased approach. Herd keepers originally had 28 days to cull BVD positive or inconclusive animals.

DAERA says that, providing herd keepers use the seven-day grace period, no herds should be restricted within the first year of these measures.

Additional measures, which will target herds with animals over 30 days old that haven't been tested for BVD, will be introduced from 1 June 2025.

More information is available on the DAERA website.
