VMG announces Victoria Humphries as keynote speaker
Victoria Humphries will deliver a keynote at the VMG Congress 2026.

Victoria was part of the world’s first all-female expedition to the North Pole.

Polar adventurer and author Victoria Humphries has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2026 Veterinary Management Group (VMG) Congress.

Victoria’s address is set to explore how her personal mantra ‘Anything is Possible’, helped her complete the world’s first all-female expedition to the North Pole, become a three times Guinness World Record holder and build a successful commercial career.

The VMG Congress takes place over three days in April (22-24), with a new participant-driven format called ShareSPACE Live. The initiative will see groups of delegates designing and managing their own agenda for some sessions.

This year’s lecture programme is themed on ‘United in Leadership’, with speakers including Rapinder Newton, Mind Matters Initiative Lead at the RCVS, Andrew Whitfield-Roberts RVN and VMG Director, and veterinary social worker Rebecca Stevens.

Current and former students of the globally recognised VMG/ILM Certificate in Veterinary Leadership and Management (CVLM) will also both speak on topics they delved into during their studies so delegates can see the impact the qualification is having on their careers.

VMG President Rebecca Robinson said: “Whether we’re already leaders or aspiring to become one, we’re united in leadership and each of us has expertise to share. VMG Congress is a place not only to learn, but also the place to find your people and build the networks that will sustain your career as you develop.

“And, if you’ve ever felt that the best conversations happen during congress coffee breaks, you won’t want to miss ShareSPACE Live – where you can bring your own questions, challenges and ideas and explore them among a supportive group of peers.

“VMG Congress will once again offer a feast of collaborative learning and we can’t wait to welcome members, past, present and future, back to Stratford-upon-Avon.”

The VMG Congress takes place 22-24 April at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon.

VMD issues guidance on AVM-GSL packaging

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has shared advice on its requirements for medicines considered AVM-GSL.

The guidance explains the information that should be on the outer package, and sets out the typical maximum pack size for an AVM-GSL product. It also describes the user-friendly language, structure and phrases required on packaging and product leaflets.

AVM-GSL products do not require discussion between the purchaser and a veterinary professional. This means that clear product information is needed to support sales choices.

The information will be useful for submitting new products to the AVM-GSL category and lowering the distribution category of products from NFA-VPS to AVM-GSL.

The VMD's guidance can be accessed here.
