Veterinary Charity Challenge raised over £16,500

Three animal welfare charities have been presented with cheques at the London Vet Show (LVS), following the success of this year's Veterinary Charity Challenge event.

Hounds for Heroes, Pet Blood Bank (PBB) and the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) were each given £5,500 after Veterinary Charity Challenge, held in September, raised in excess of £16,500.

The event was held at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, in order to help animal welfare charities' funds. There were 26 teams of four that attended, from numerous veterinary practices.

As well as raising money, the event also provided an opportunity for team building, with activities including a seven-hour walk, running, cycling and kayaking.

Yesterday, (November 15) Veterinary Charity Challenge sponsors BCF Technology handed over the cheques at their LVS stand.

Gavin Mitchell presented a cheque to Hounds for Heroes, represented by Sarah Harold and Anne Wheeley. Chris Grey presented a cheque to Brian Wright of PBB, and Andrew Groom presented a cheque to SPANA, represented by Nic Van Gelder and Laura Higham.

Mr Mitchell, of BCF Technology, said: "We haven't chosen our charities for next year yet, but we hope to see everyone again next year."
